Founded in 1995 by the Blanche Ely High School Class of 1970—pioneers who grew up under segregation—the festival was born from a profound commitment to transform struggle into celebration. Today, we honor that legacy by fostering inclusion, bridging cultural divides, and inspiring the next generation.

This February, we mark a historic milestone: our 31st Annual African-American Cultural Celebration. The highlight of this momentous season is the Tiger Trail Black Tie Gala—the premier fundraising event of the festival. This elegant evening is dedicated to celebrating the profound contributions and vibrant culture of our community, while supporting the festival’s year-round mission of education, preservation, and celebration.
